Choosing between woven clothing labels and printed clothing labels comes down to your design complexity and desired look.
Woven labels have the design woven directly into the fabric using colored threads. This creates a premium, textured feel that lasts the lifetime of the garment — the design will never fade, peel, or crack. Woven labels reproduce up to 12 colors and work best for logos, brand names, and simple graphics. They're the standard choice for t-shirt hem tags, hats, beanies and apparel for premium clothing brands.
Printed labels have the design printed onto a fabric surface using ink. They can reproduce unlimited colors, photographic detail, and complex gradients that weaving cannot achieve. Printed labels are typically more affordable, especially for full-color designs. However, they may fade slightly over many wash cycles.

About Our Iron On Woven Labels
Iron on woven labels are a popular choice when sewing isn't a convenient option. The iron on clothing label backing is a thin, heat activated glue applied to the back side of each label. Our iron on labels for clothing are versatile and can be applied using a heat press or simple home iron. While iron on woven labels aren't as durable as sewing, our iron on labels attach perma- nently and should withstand multiple washes. To apply, simply set your heat press to 325F or home iron to medium cotton setting (no steam). Press firmly for 15-20 seconds, then let cool completely. That's it!

The difference between sewing margin and seam allowance is crucial in designing woven labels. Sewing margin is the space between your label's design elements and its edge, ensuring you don't sew over the design. The minimum recommended sewing margin is 1/8". Seam allowance, however, is the part of the label sewn into the garment's seam. Almost all labels need to consider sewing margin, but only labels going into a seam need to consider seam allowance. Center fold, loop fold, and mitre fold labels, which often go into seams, should reserve 1/4" on the top and bottom of the label for seam allowance.
Woven Label Versions
We offer customizable variations for your order. You can choose from two types of alter- ations: one is to include various size labels (like XS, S, M, L, XL, etc.), and the other is to modify the color of your label. It's important to understand that completely different designs, such as changing from circles to stars, are not considered variations and should be ordered independently. For each alteration, we charge a standard fee of $25.
