Printing Color on Cotton Labels

While most competitors offer 1 or 2 colors, we offer the option to include up to 4 print colors in your cotton label design. While single color prints look great, 4 color prints result in stunning, eye-catching cotton labels that truly stand out. Our cotton base material also comes in 3 colors: black, white or natural. This means, including the base material color your cotton label design can include up to 5 colors total.

Exploring Versions with Cotton Clothing Labels

In addition to your logo and branding, our printed cotton labels can also include the size of your garment. At New York Custom Labels, we offer the unique option to split an order into multiple size versions. For example, if you order 500 labels, you can divide that order into five size versions (XS, S, M, L, XL). A common distribution might be 50 XS, 100 S, 200 M, 100 L, and 50 XL. You are free to split the quantities in any way you prefer; just let us know in the comment section of your order. This method is a more cost-effective way to order multiple sizes compared to placing separate orders for each size version.

How to Design Cotton Labels That Won’t Fray

Unlike the synthetic fibers found in a polyester woven label, the natural fibers in cotton clothing labels won’t seal when cut. For this reason, cotton labels will always have 2 unsealed edges where the cotton ribbon is cut down to the final width. The 2 unfinished edges will fray if left exposed. However, it's easy to prevent the unsealed edges from fraying when your cotton label is designed and applied correctly. Below are two fold styles to prevent fraying:

End Fold Labels

An easy fix to prevent fraying is to integrate end folds into your label design. By adding 0.25 inches to each end (0.5 inches in total width), you create a fold that conceals and secures the raw edges. This approach offers a clean finish, ensuring the edges are protected and your label maintains their integrity.

Center of Loop Fold Labels

When your label is to be sewn into a seam, opt for a center or loop fold design. This style encases the label's ends within the seam, providing natural protection against fraying and extending the lifespan of your label.
